This new year continues to present more challenges. I am blessed to live in an incredible part of the world where I can walk for miles amongst beautiful woodland, along river banks and over common land just a stones throw from my house.
With this incredible resource surrounding me I have set myself a new project, to get back to nature, to look, study and draw in minute detail things that I find or that I have collected over the years that are on display in my home.
This is my challenge, to take time to absorb what I see and draw in simple pen and ink then take my creations into the digital world along with digital artwork from scanned images of my hand painted fabrics papers and photographs.
It's incredibly theraputic spending time drawing with a lovely new set of pigment pens, but then what? Well, I have a camera, computer and printer so have started putting all the different methods together to see what happens and some little prints started to evolve. I now also have some fresh ideas for new textile works which I can't wait to get started on too.
This digital approach enables the combining of; the texture of cloth and stitch, the free nature of hand painting, the tighter disciplines of botanical drawing and photography. By breaking down these surfaces and images using computer programming and adding multiple layers digitally new and original textile art prints can be created. This is not like a giclée print which is really a very good copy of an exhisting art work, this is a stand alone image created through many processes.
This is a shop I have on Etsy where I sell a selection of digital textile prints
and cards. All the art work is original and made by me from hand painted papers and fabrics with stitched work, gilding and the use of mixed media.
Each print is signed by me and printed on 100% cotton archival Hahnemühle inkjet paper using pigment inks. Prints are unmounted and unframed.
My limited edition prints and cards have further embellishments after printing using gilding metals and watercolours.
I use recycled card blanks and biodegradeable cellophane protective sleeves.
