I never stop being amazed by the beauty and colour of nature. These small textile collages use dried, pressed weeds, flowers and grasses collected from my garden or from walks around the spectacular Devon landscape where I live. I am very fortunate to live betwixt the coast and the moors and am regularly inspired by the mood and light surrounding them. Using gilding materials such as foils, metal leaf and creams with metallic thread allows me to play with the light as the day progresses. I enjoy how each piece glistens and glows in the changing light.

These gilded textile collages can stand alone or are perfect as a collection. The gold, silver and copper leaf reflects the light throughout the day and glow at night creating a warm ambiance. The added stitching and pressed flower detailing gives texture and shadow. I love nature so using it in my work gives added pleasure. I have always been drawn to surface and texture creating layers with different materials and processes. Shadows and contours evolve through this layering and overlaying giving a 2D effect.
